According to a report, the u.s. has proposed a u.n. security council resolution calling for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza, it has also warned against invading Rafah. Reportedly, about half of Gaza’s population is sheltering in Rafah, many are living in makeshift shelters or tents.
According to the report, the u.s. has come under pressure to rein in Israel’s operations having spent much of the war emphasising Israel’s right to self defence, nevertheless they have previously vetoed all other resolutions calling for a ceasefire. Reportedly, the israeli prime minister has so far resisted international pressure to reconsider Rafah, promising to rescue the remaining hostages and defeat hamas throughout Gaza.
