Zimbabwe election

According to reports, Zimbabwe’s president Emmerson Mnangagwa has been elected to a second term with 52.6% of the vote. Reportedly, Mr Mnangagwa who is Zimbabwe’s third president took charge during a 2017 coup against Robert Mugabe. According to the report, zimbabwens still face high inflation, poverty and a climate of fear, though when he became president he promised a new start.

Reportedly, Zimbabwe has one of the highest inflation rates in the world, in July prices rose by 101.3% compared to the previous year. According to the report, only 25% of people are employed. Reportedly, Mr Mnangagwa’s main opposition, Nelson Chamisa and the citizen’s coalition for change (ccc) secured 44% of the vote.
