According to a report, the u.n. security council talked about a resolution demanding a ceasefire for the rest of ramadan. Ramadan began on 10 March and finishes on 9 April meaning the council was calling for a two week ceasefire. Reportedly, the resolution also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. According to the report, the uk, China and Russia all voted in favour. Reportedly, the israeli prime minister threatened to call off a planned visit to Washington if the u.s. didn’t veto the vote, they abstained.
According to the report, after the vote the u.n. secretary general said on X that the resolution must be implemented.
