U.s. secretary of state’s visit

According to a report, in a meeting with the u.s. secretary of state the israeli prime minister said he deeply appreciated the fact that the u.s. and Israel had stood together for five months in the war against hamas, and that they need to evacuate the civilian population from the war zone and take care of humanitarian needs, which they are working on. Reportedly, unable to leave Gaza, people are living in tent camps and overflowing u.n. shelters.

According to the report, Mr Netanyahu said that Israel doesn’t have a way of defeating hamas without going in to Rafah and eliminating the four remaining battalions there. Reportedly, over 1.3 million people are sheltering in Rafah.

According to the report, the u.s. secretary of state said that after the war Israel could be struck in Gaza for years. Reportedly, the u.s. has been talking about a palestinian authority to take over the governance of Gaza, which Israel has rejected.
