According to a report, the Syrian civil war is an ongoing multi faceted civil war fought against the Syrian Arab Republic, lead by Bashar al Assad and various factions who are also fighting each other.
Reportedly, some factions are the shi-ite interim government, an alternative government, the Kurdish autonomous region of north eastern Syria and islamic state, though Saudi Arabia reportedly supports the interim government along with Turkey, the u.s., France, Qatar and Libya.
According to the report, supporters of the arab republic are Hezbolla, Russia, Iran and Iraq; and the autonomous region is supported by the u.s., Russia, France, the Kurdistan workers party, the patriotic union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan democratic party.
According to reports, unrest began in 2011 with the pro western Arab spring movement, leading to the persecution and killing of Christians, and the migration of a reported 2.1 million Christians. Those left would have converted to Islam.
