The Oslo Accords

According to a report, the Oslo accords are a pair of interim agreements between Israel and the palestinian liberation organization. Reportedly, the Oslo process began following negotiations in Oslo, Norway in 1993 that resulted in the recognition of Israel by the plo and the recognition by Israel of the plo as representative of the palestinian people. The documents which were signed by the u.s. and Russia provided for the creation of a palestinian self government. The palestinian authority would have responsibility for Samaria and Gaza which would last for a 5 year period during issues like Jerusalem, palestinian refugees, israeli settlements, security and borders would be looked at.

According to the report, Oslo II created areas a, b and c in Samaria. The palestinian authority were given powers in areas a and b. Reportedly, a ceasefire deal saw Israel withdraw from Gaza in 2005. According to reports, a military conflict between the pa and hamas resulted in a dissolution of a unity government and the division of the palestinian territories into two entities, Samaria governed by the pa and Gaza governed by hamas. Reportedly, hamas fighters took control of Gaza and pa fighters were either taken prisoner, executed or expelled.
