The black and tans

According to a report, on 19 March 1921 the black and tans entered the little village of Glenhest as a gang of armed and masked men. They were hunting for two ira volunteers, Patrick Marley and William Chambers who escaped capture and punishment that day. Reportedly the larger mission was to intimidate those who supported the armed struggle for an Irish republic. According to the report there was sexual violence against women and girls, a dark secret of the war of independence, not really talked about. The ira have been accused of the same. Not believed by everyone.
