According to a report, the battle for Bakhmut, a city in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine has been the longest and bloodiest of the war so far. Reportedly, on Wednesday the leader of the wagner mercenary group appealed to the russian ministry of defence not to abandon the area, leaving them at the mercy of ukrainian soldiers. Reportedly, this was followed by the announcement that Bakhmut was under complete russian control around midday Saturday. According to a report, president Zelenskyy who was in Hiroshima for the g7 summit said, “Today Bakhmut is only in our hearts. The fight has left nothing there except a lot of dead russians”.
