According to their own statistics, of a thought to be 564 Garda stations nationwide, there is a reported rise in crime in 296 areas. Drug offences are reportedly up, along with public order offences, assault and thought to be organised crime; specifically drugs, previously reported to involve mainly former republican contingents who may have been interned in the past and no longer get on with the system.
