According to a report, prior to the israeli attack on 13 June, a spokesman for Iran said in an interview that they wanted to offload much of their enriched uranium (keeping some for civilian use) in return for release from sanctions but have now said they will not enter into nuclear talks with the u.s. while Israel is attacking them.
Reportedly, Israel said they have killed a senior iranian commander who helped plan hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack in a strike on an apartment on Saturday in the city of Qom, north west Iran. According to the report, the killing of Saeed Izadi was described by the israeli defence force as a tremendous intelligence and operational achievement, saying that the blood of thousands of israelis was on his hands. Reportedly, Saeed Izadi had been in charge of the palestinian corps of the iranian revolutionary guards corps quds force, responsible for handling ties with palestinian armed groups, but Iran has previously denied any involvement in the hamas attack. According to the report, another quds force member who was said by the idf to have been instrumental in transporting missiles and rockets to hezbollah and hamas was killed in a drone strike as he was travelling in a car in western Iran.
Reportedly, the idf said they have been targeting missile storage and launch infrastructure sites in Iran. According to the report, they said that they targeted Iran’s Isfahan nuclear plant. Isfahan plays a central role in Iran’s nuclear programme, housing a uranium conversion facility. Reportedly, Iran said the attack had not caused a hazardous waste leak.
According to the report, the idf said Iran has fired 450 missiles and 1000 drones since the conflict began, an unknown number of which has been intercepted.
