Reportedly the u.s. withdrawal from Afghanistan was domestic policy, one reason given was that Afghan forces didn’t want to fight. The taliban were said to have taken over without a shot being fired.
Fatalities of the twenty year war have been estimated as follows; 3,846 u.s. contractors, 47,245 Afghan civilians, 72 journalists, 444 aid workers, 2,448 American service members, 1,144 allied/nato service members, 51,991 taliban and opposition fighters and 66,000 Afghan military and police though the military may have stopped publishing figures.
According to a report the taliban issued a blanket amnesty on Tuesday said to be for all who cooperated with America and the western backed government, though thousands are believed to have already left the country. Reportedly the public and officials are being encouraged to go back to work.
