Reasons are his compliance to old, not very accurate ideas about catholicism. His apologies to the gay community indicate previous abuse, not so; and more recently he has equated the church’s pro-life stance with regard to abortion to the right to life of mass murderers on death row.
Abortion being an emotive issue sometimes results in extremism. Psychological problems, addiction and poor relationships may be reasons why abortion seems to be the only answer, yet it might be an opportunity to focus on what’s wrong.
