Reportedly the president of the european commision, Ursula Von der Layen had to abandon meetings with the european council and go into self isolation due to a member of her staff testing positive for covid 19. The president who is said to have an apartment in Brussels, instead travelled to her hometown of Hanover, Germany. Reportedly she followed all the rules as preventative isolation differs from quarantine, her covid test being negative.
According to reports Phil Hogan lost his job after accepting an invitation to an oireachtas dinner, though his covid test on arrival in Ireland from Brussels was negative and he, according to reports had had no known contact with covid 19.
