According to a report, residents are defending a Port-au-prince neighbourhood against gang attacks. Reportedly, one man said that locals fighting back are willing to give their heart and soul for the freedom of the neighbourhood and the country. Reportedly, shooting can be heard every day, bodies are in the streets and families often don’t retrieve their loved ones because they don’t have enough money to pay for a funeral, their hope is that ngo’s or government workers will take the bodies away.

According to the report, the airport which is closed is guarded by the military, the only place where they are visible. Reportedly, in a neighbourhood called Solino residents and off duty policemen who live there defend themselves. According to the report, gangs consider Solino a gateway to areas they are trying to infiltrate.
