Benjamin Netanyahu’s undiplomacy in referring to a supposed annexation of Samaria, which was renamed the west bank after it was annexed by Jordan in 1948 has resulted in protests from both Palestinians and Israelis. Palestinians who as the name suggests do not recognise the Israeli state, were transported to Israel during the Assyrian empires; thought to have been during the first Assyrian empire, dated as 25th-24th Century bc.
The name Palestine, believed to have been originally designated by Assyrians, is reported as being brought to Israel by the newcomers, and according to documentation was also associated with Philistines who settled in present day Gaza around the same time. All things considered, is Benjamin Netanyahu substantiating any ideas for peace between Israelis and Palestinians in talking about reclaiming Samaria in these terms, and in omitting to substantiate the rights of Samarians to equal opportunities?
