U.s. President Exploring a Range of Options

According to a report, the u.s. president is considering a range of options including a strike on Iran according to a number of administration officers. Reportedly, Israel said they have hit further nuclear and missile facilities, including a centrifuge production site. A Centrifuge is a device that uses centrifugal force to separate substances based on density and is used in the production of enriched uranium. Israel believes Iran is trying to make nuclear bombs but Iran say the enriched uranium is to be used for civilian purposes.

According to the report, in order to completely destroy Iran’s nuclear programme Israel needs to attack the Fordow nuclear plant which is buried deep beneath a mountain 30 km from the city of Qom and only possible with 30,000 lb bunker buster bombs owned by the u.s. Reportedly, Ayatollah Khomenei warned the u.s. president of irreparable harm if the u.s. military intervenes in the conflict.

Iran’s Chief of Staff Killed

According to a report, Israel and Iran are exchanging fire for a fifth day. Reportedly, there were explosions in Tehran while Israel said that Iran launched 30 missiles at the country. According to the report, Israel said they have killed Iran’s chief of staff, Ali Shadmani after attacking headquarters in Tehran. Reportedly, he was the most senior military commander and a man close to Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

According to the report, Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz has warned Ayatollah Khomenei that he could share the same fate as Saddam Hussein who was executed during the u.s.incursion in Iraq. Reportedly, Iran’s revolutionary guard said they have hit Israel’s military intelligence quarters and an operational centre of mossad, the israeli intelligence agency.

French President Visiting Greenland

According to a report, the french president is visiting Greenland on Sunday and Greenland’s critical minerals is said to be on the agenda.

Reportedly, Greenland, a semi autonomous danish island is said to be looking for cooperation and investment. Acccording to the report, Denmark will be present but Greenlandic opposition leader Pele Broberg thinks Greenland should host bilateral talks alone, he said, It doesn’t seem like a visit for Greenland this time, it seems like a visit for Denmark.

Nuclear talks not to go ahead

According to a report, nuclear talks between the u.s. and Iran will not go-ahead, Sunday as originally scheduled. Reportedly, the u.s. president threatened to respond to any attack by Iran. According to the report, in a post on social media he wrote,
If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the u.s. armed forces will come down on you at levels never seen before. However we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict.

Reportedly, an israeli military official said they attacked 80 targets in Tehran on Saturday night including the ministry of defence headquarters and two dual use fuel sites supporting nuclear and military operations. According to the report, they still have a large list of targets in Iran. Reportedly, Israel also conducted an airstrike in Yemen in an attempt to kill the houthi chief of staff, the outcome of which is unknown.

According to the report, Israel’s military spokesperson has posted an evacuation warning for iranians on social media.
All individuals currently or in the near future present in or around military weapons production facilities and their support institutions are to leave these areas immediately and not return until further notice, he wrote.

Reportedly, atleast 7 people have been killed in Israel on Saturday night. Casualties in Iran unknown.

Iran Undecided on Nuclear Talks

According to a report, Iran has warned the u.s., u.k. and France that they will target their bases and ships in the region if they help stop the strikes on Israel. Reportedly, 60 people were killed in a strike in Tehran and 3 people have been killed in Israel.

According to reports, the u.s. and Iran were set to resume talks on Iran’s nuclear programme in Oman on Sunday, but Iran are undecided whether the talks will go ahead. Reportedly, Iran’s foreign minister said that continuing the talks is now unjustifiable. According to the report, the u.s. and Iran have held five rounds of talks mediated by Oman in April and May but the divisive factor is said to be uranium enrichment on iranian soil.

Reportedly, the recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites mean it will take time to rebuild their previous facilities. According to the report, Iran installed thousands of centrifuges (machines used to enrich uranium) following the u.s. withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018. Reportedly, they insist their nuclear programme is for civilian use only.

Israel-Iran, A Night of Intense Fighting

According to a report, Iran say 78 people were killed and atleast 320 injured during a night of intense fighting between Israel and Iran. Reportedly, ballistic missiles hit parts of Israel overnight and alerts were given for the public to take shelter. According to the report, three people were killed and dozens injured as explosions were heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Reportedly, a spokesperson for Israel said, Iran is very very close to reaching a nuclear capability, as I understand our intelligence, it was clear from now on we will not have the ability to strike if we do not do it now. When Iran understands the consequences of not signing a nuclear deal with the u.s. it will be easier for the u.s. president to achieve this deal.

According to reports, Israel’s ambition is not just to destroy Iran’s capability to manufacture nuclear weapons, they also want to bring down a regime that has threatened to destroy Israel. Reportedly, Iran still has around 2000 ballistic missiles and a capacity to produce more.

Israel strikes Iran, Iran retaliates

According to a report, Israel launched a major attack on iranian nuclear sites overnight which killed civilians including children, revolutionary guard chief Hossein Salami, other senior military figures and six nuclear scientists. Reportedly, this was followed by Iran firing 100 drones towards Israel, many of which were intercepted. According to the report, Israel has declared a state of emergency.

Reportedly, the israeli prime minister said, Iran has recently taken steps to weaponise enriched uranium which is a clear and present danger to Israel’s very survival.

According to reports, Iran has accused the u.s. of supporting israeli strikes but the u.s. say they were not involved. Reportedly, the u.s. president has asked Iran to make a deal on their nuclear programme, warning of even more brutal attacks.

Mohammed Sinwar

According to reports, the body of Mohammed Sinwar was discovered in a tunnel network below the European hospital in southern Gaza following israeli strikes.

Reportedly, Mohammed is the brother of Yahya Sinwar who was killed by the israeli defence force in 2024. According to the report, he was born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in Gaza in 1975 (his family moved from Ashkelon during the 1948 arab-israeli war).

Reportedly, Mohammed Sinwar joined hamas, the sunni palestiniann authority in Gaza in 1991, becoming a member of their military wing, the Al-Qassam brigades, and was ideologically influenced by hamas co-founder Abdel Aziz Al-Rantisi.

Reportedly, he was released but in 1992 he was accused of kidnapping and killing an israeli soldier and was arrested by the palestinian authority. According to the report, he spent 3 years in jail before escaping in 2000.
Reportedly, during the second uprising he planned attacks against israeli targets and oversaw rocket attacks. According to the report, from 2005-2016 he was the commander of hamas’s Khan Unis brigade and became involved in the abduction of israeli soldier, Gilas Shalit who was swapped in 2011 for 1,027 palestinian prisoners, including Sinwar’s brother Yahya.

Reportedly, Israel has made several attempts to assassinate him.

Pope Leo XIV

According to a report, the new pope, Robert Francis Prevost who became pope Leo XIV has been described by a former roommate as outgoing, down to earth and very concerned with the poor. According to the report, Leo became arch Bishop in January 2023 and later that year Francis made him cardinal. Reportedly, he is the first member of the Augustine order to be elected pope. Thomas Aquinas, up to now one of the most influential theologians in the catholic tradition and Augustine have different attitudes to philosophy. Aquinas presented logical proofs that God exists while Augustine offered individual ways to know a God that he turned to in a search for life’s basic questions following a young life of physical excess. With Augustine the accent was on a personal spiritual experience rather than the sacraments, he particularly didn’t like the sacrament of confession. Anglicans are part of the Augustine tradition and ecumenicals may prefer Augustine. Time will tell if pope Leo will continue Francis’s reforms.

Choosing the name Leo may be significant. According to the report, the first pontiff called Leo (440-461) met Attilla the Hun and persuaded him not to attack Rome, and the last pontiff named Leo (1878-1903) wrote a treatise on workers’ rights.

Presidential Candidate Shot at Rally

According to a report, a colombian presidential candidate was shot three times while addressing supporters at a rally in a park in Bogota. Reportedly, Miguel Turbay who is in a critical condition was shot twice in the head and in the knee, a 15 year old suspect has been detained by police.

According to the report, Mr Turbay’s centro democratico party condemned the attack, calling it a threat to democracy and freedom in Colombia, and the u.s. secretary of state blamed the incident on violent leftist rhetoric coming from the highest levels of the colombian government.
