U.s. President Announces Ceasefire

According to reports, on Monday evening the u.s. president announced a total ceasefire between Israel and Iran on Truth Social, a social media platform owned by him. Reportedly, the ceasefire which took effect from 4 am Tuesday morning Tehran time followed an exchange of fire on Monday night with 4 people killed in southern Israel.

Iran Targets Airbase in Qatar

According to a report, Iran has targeted the u.s.’s largest airbase in the middle east, al Udeid, south west of Doha, but air defences intercepted the six short and medium range ballistic missiles and there were no injuries reported. Reportedly, al Udeid houses 10,000 u.s. airforce personnel, as well as the Qatari airforce the british royal airforce and other foreign forces. According to reports, the u.s. was given a prior warning via two diplomatic channels, if so there is a chance that the situation will not escalate.

Reportedly, several u.s. bases in the middle east are on high alert, and the Ain al Asad base in Iraq activated their air defence system out of concern for a potential attack.

Ukrainian president meets UK prime minister

According to a report, the president of Ukraine is travelling to London on Monday for talks with the uk prime minister on military support. Reportedly, Ukrainian forces are struggling to defend against intensified air attacks. According to the report, 352 russian drones and 26 missiles targeted Ukraine, mostly around Kyiv. Reportedly, atleast seven people have been killed, six of whom were in a high rise building in Kyiv, and one following a drone attack on a hospital in the city of Bila Tserkva.

According to the report, an overnight attack on Tuesday left 28 people dead and more than 100 injured. Reportedly, diplomatic talks to end the three year war have so far failed, the last direct talks were in early June with agreement only on exchange of prisoners and bodies of the dead.

Iran Promises Decisive Response

Reportedly, according to u.n. nuclear inspectors Iran had 408 kg of uranium enriched to 60% (90% is weapons grade).

Belarusian Opposition Activist Released from Prison

According to a report, Sergei Tikhanovskya, an opposition activist was one of 14 political prisoners released in Belarus and transported to Lithuania where he was reunited with his wife, Svetlana who is living in exile. Reportedly, the sudden release came as a u.s. special envoy visited the president of Belarus who Sergei was destructively critical of. According to the report, the video blogger who once toured the country in order to broadcast people’s views and had a big following on social media used to call on people to stop the cockroach, referring to Alexandr Lukashenko. Reportedly, he was arrested in 2020 and convicted of rallying mass protests after which his wife stepped in to replace him, but she was forced into exile following widespread protests.

The u.s. obliterate Iran’s nuclear facilities

According to a report, the u.s. have launched attacks on three nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Reportedly, 30,000 lb bunker buster bombs were used in an operation that was described by the u.s. president as a spectacular military success. According to the report, he said that Iran’s nuclear facilities have been totally and utterly destroyed, and warned of further strikes if they did not agree to immediate peace with Israel.

Senior Iranian Commander Killed

According to a report, prior to the israeli attack on 13 June, a spokesman for Iran said in an interview that they wanted to offload much of their enriched uranium (keeping some for civilian use) in return for release from sanctions but have now said they will not enter into nuclear talks with the u.s. while Israel is attacking them.

Reportedly, Israel said they have killed a senior iranian commander who helped plan hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack in a strike on an apartment on Saturday in the city of Qom, north west Iran. According to the report, the killing of Saeed Izadi was described by the israeli defence force as a tremendous intelligence and operational achievement, saying that the blood of thousands of israelis was on his hands. Reportedly, Saeed Izadi had been in charge of the palestinian corps of the iranian revolutionary guards corps quds force, responsible for handling ties with palestinian armed groups, but Iran has previously denied any involvement in the hamas attack. According to the report, another quds force member who was said by the idf to have been instrumental in transporting missiles and rockets to hezbollah and hamas was killed in a drone strike as he was travelling in a car in western Iran.

Reportedly, the idf said they have been targeting missile storage and launch infrastructure sites in Iran. According to the report, they said that they targeted Iran’s Isfahan nuclear plant. Isfahan plays a central role in Iran’s nuclear programme, housing a uranium conversion facility. Reportedly, Iran said the attack had not caused a hazardous waste leak.

According to the report, the idf said Iran has fired 450 missiles and 1000 drones since the conflict began, an unknown number of which has been intercepted.

Meeting of the north south ministerial council

According to a report, the 29th meeting of the north south ministerial council took place on Friday. Reportedly, the northern Ireland executive was led by first minister, Michelle O’Neil and the government of Ireland was led by taoiseach Michael Martin.

U.s. president gives diplomacy a chance

According to a report, uk, french and german officials are holding talks with Iran in Geneva on Friday as part of efforts to end the israeli iranian conflict. Reportedly, ahead of the meeting the uk foreign secretary said a window now exists within the next two weeks to achieve a diplomatic solution. According to the report, the u.s. president has delayed making a decision for the next two weeks on whether the u.s. will join Israel in striking Iran.

Reportedly, the israeli defence force said it has struck dozens of military sites on Thursday night while Iran launched missiles towards Israel.

U.s, uk and allies sending military resources to the middle east

According to a report, Israel has targeted Iran’s nuclear sites including the inactive Arak heavy water reactor and the Natanz nuclear facility which was built for uranium enrichment. Reportedly, Israel said that Iran struck the Soroka hospital in Beersheba, southern Israel, but Iran said they struck the nearby military command headquarters with the blast wave causing superficial damage to the hospital.
