Former general accused of genocide

According to a report, a former general accused of ordering the murder of more than 1200 Ixil Maya people during Guatemala’s civil war is being tried from a prison hospital where he is serving a prior sentence for forced disappearance, rape and torture. Reportedly, Benedicto Garcia is charged with genocide crimes against humanity, it is alleged he planned and evecuted over 30 massacres, survivors said he killed babies and the elderly.

Police arrest former vice president

Reportedly, Jorge Glas was jailed for 6 years after being found guilty of accepting bribes from the brazilian construction firm, Odebrecht in exchange for awarding them government contracts. Investigation into aid workers strike

Reportedly, a spokesperson for the semi autonomous region of Puntland said that the amendments risk worsening violence and has accused the president of using parliament to gather authority in to his hands, saying he is taking power from the state.

New strategies to combat hunger
