According to a report, Turkey has imposed trade restrictions on Israel until the event of a ceasefire in Gaza. Reportedly, one of Israel’s harshest critics took the measures after Israel declined to take part in a food aid drop requested by Ankara who have called hamas a liberation group.
According to the report, Turkey’s trade ministry has listed 54 items that will not be exported to Israel who say they will draw up their own inventory of turkish products they will ban. Reportedly, the restrictions which began on Tuesday include cement, steel, iron construction products, machines, electrical goods, soaps, clothing and food.
According to the report, Turkey’s exports to Israel were worth $5.3 billion in 2023. Reportedly, Turkey who normalised relations with Israel in 2022 after years of conflict have provided Gaza with tens of thousands of tonnes of humanitarian aid by land. According to the report, over the weekend Israel said they had managed to increase the flow of aid trucks into Gaza.
