According to tradition, Charles will become head of the church of England and the worldwide anglican church. Since the 16th Century split with Rome, the arch bishop of Canterbury is answerable to the crown. The ecumenical movement has seemingly resulted in anglicans taking over catholic churchs and merging with catholic schools, especially with regard to administration.
Justin Welby, current arch bishop of Canterbury was educated at Cambridge and Eton. He is a member of the house of Lords. Reportedly, prior to being ordained he worked for seven years in the oil industry, five for Elf Aquitaine. According to a report, between 1989 and 1991 Elf, founded by Charles de Gaulle became involved in what was described as a fraudulent scheme to develop a wave detector for oil exploration, costing £132 million, and became the subject of a merger. Reportedly, Justin Welby retired from the oil industry in 1989 and became ordained, he became arch bishop in 2013.
According to a report, in 1993 Elf acquired the exclusive contract to the Iraqi oil fields, and in 1994 became the subject of what was described as the biggest fraud enquiry since the second world war. Reportedly, in 2003 Iraqi born Nadhmi Auchi, founding president of the anglo arab association received a 15 month suspended sentence and a £1.5 million fine for his involvment in taking illegal commissions. According to a report, in 2000 Elf became Totalfina/Total decided to take legal action against Auchi, who in turn sued them for $327 million. Reportedly, until 2000 Nadhmi Auchi received money in a special account for oil for food programmes.
