According to a report, the ministry of the interior of the Libyan government of national unity said that armed security groups that have been controlling Tripoli have agreed to leave the capital and will be replaced by a regular police force. Reportedly, the deal will see the general security force, the special deterrence force, 444 brigade, brigade 111 and the stability support authority leave the capital. According to the report, the groups are not under the direct command of the government but recieve public funding.
According to the report, Libya is currently divided by the internationally recognized government led by interim prime minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah in the west and an administration in the east run by general Khalifa Haftar and has been plagued by armed conflict and political chaos since 2011 when a nato led coalition overthrew and killed colonel Gaddafi.
