Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was born on 18th July 1918. His father was a chieftain of the Tembu tribe near Umtata, South Africa. He became a lawyer and thought to be around the age of 25 he joined the African National Congress. He became president in 1952. Believed to have been involved in nationalist bombing campaigns, he reportedly spent 28 years in jail which was the subject of much controversey until the British establishment let him out. Terms unknown. On release, Mandela’s thought to be inclusive government were supposedly tasked to deal with apartheid when the real issue was colonial exploitation.
