According to a report, Saudi Arabia chaired a meeting attended by Qatar’s minister of state, a representative from the United arab emirates, an egyptian diplomat, Jordans foreign minister and a palestinian authority official to discuss the war in Gaza. Reportedly, the group stressed the need to end the war in Gaza and recognise a palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital. According to the report, they were against any military offensive in Rafah, and rejected any attempt to displace palestinians from their land, but there isn’t any innitiative to displace palestinians, infact they aren’t allowed to leave.
Reportedly, hamas said they were reviewing a new israeli ceasefire proposal in response to a hamas proposal consisting of a 6 week ceasefire and the release of 40 civilian and sick hostages in exchange for palestinian prisoners. According to the report, Israel’s foreign minister said the planned offensive in Rafah could be delayed if there is a deal to release the hostages. Reportedly, israeli airstrikes in Rafah have killed 27 people in the past 24 hours.
