According to a report, the u.s. secretary of state said Washington will act if China doesn’t stop selling critical components used to make arms to Russia. Reportedly, speaking in Beijing at a meeting with the chinese president on Friday he said that China was fuelling the biggest threat to European security since the cold war. According to the report, he also said he felt Beijing could play a constructive role in the middle east by using their relationship with Iran to avoid further escalation.
Reportedly, relations between the two have been strained by China’s claims over Taiwan, but the chinese president said they had made some positive progress and the two should be partners not rivals, saying that if the u.s. took a positive view of China’s development relations could get better and move forward.
According to the report, the u.s. has passed a law that forces chinese owned parent company ByteDance to sell TikTok, seemingly because of its content or be banned from the u.s., ByteDance said it is not selling. This was not discussed.
