Meat testing deferred as nphet contact trace thousands of covid positives

The total number of covid related deaths in Ireland is estimated at 3,327. According to reports, 181 of the thought to be 400 Irish nursing homes were hit with a covid outbreak last week, four were said to be unvaccinated. According to last weeks figures, 71,600 first doses of the vaccine have been administered to residents in care homes, 89,900 to health care workers. 13,800 second doses have been administered.

The testing of meat for covid has again been deferred, reportedly due to the resources required, though positive test results were found in a substantial amount of samples week ending 23 January. As of 29 January, nphet are reportedly extra contact tracing thousands of covid positive cases, though known contacts have been notified by text throughout.
