Japan releasing radioactive water into the Pacific

According to reports, Japan is releasing radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean from its damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant. Reportedly, the plant’s cooling system was destroyed following an earthquake and tsunami in 2011 causing reactor cores to overheat and contaminate water with highly radioactive material. According to the report, the contaminated water has been stored in 1000 tanks, Japan said it needs the land occupied by the tanks to safely decommission the plant. Reportedly, there has been criticism from China and south Korea, the former has banned Japanese sea food.
