According to a report, the israeli defence force have launched an overnight attack on al-Shifa hospital in Gaza city. Reportedly, Israel said hamas terrorists had regrouped inside the hospital and the idf were carrying out a high precision operation in limited areas of the hospital. According to the report, the israeli military said they were acting on intelligence reports and that the hospital would continue to function during the raid. Reportedly, patients and staff were told they didn’t have to evacuate, but hundreds of displaced people sheltering in the complex will be able to leave via an evacuation route.
According to the report, al-Shifa was Gaza’s main medical facility prior to the conflict but its operations have been disrupted. Reportedly, Israel has accused hamas of using medical facilities as cover for its operations. According to the report, in a raid in November the idf found weapons and a network of tunnels under the hospital.
