According to a report, an investigation has been called for into the deaths of atleast 117 palestinians as they crowded around aid lorries in Gaza, more than 760 were injured. Reportedly, hamas has accused Israel of firing at civilians but Israel says most died in a crush after warning shots were fired.
According to the report, Thursday’s incident took place at around 04.45 local time at the Nabulsi roundabout on the outskirts of Gaza city. Reportedly, a convoy of 30 lorries carrying egyptian aid were making their way north along what the israelis had designated as a humanitarian corridor. According to the report, civilians surrounded the convoy at the roundabout and started climbing on to the lorries, some began violently pushing, trampling others and looting. Reportedly, israeli troops tried to deter them by firing warning shots but pulled back when the hundreds became thousands.
According to the report, the u.n. is warning of a looming famine in northern Gaza where 300,000 people are living with little food or clean water.
