According to a report, senior republican Kevin McCarthy has announced a formal impeachment enquiry against president Joe Biden claiming they have unearthed a culture of corruption. Reportedly, the enquiry will focus on accusations of improper business dealings on the part of the president’s son, Hunter Biden and whether the president benefited from his son’s business dealings.
According to the report, in a memorandum released in August it was claimed that the Biden family and their business associates had received over $20 million in paýments from foreign sources in countries including Ukraine, China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Romania. Reportedly, republicans also focused on a tip to the fbi that said Joe Biden pressured Ukraine’s governor to fire a top prosecutor to halt an investigation into ukrainian energy firm Burisma where Hunter Biden was on the board. According to the report, an fbi document detailing the claim read that a former Burisma chief executive officer said that he paid $5 million to Joe and Hunter Biden, he later rebutted the claim.
Reportedly, house republicans have testimony from two internal revenue service whistle blowers that the justice department intentionally interfered with a multiyear investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax return. According to the report, the two irs agents said that the justice department was blocking investigative steps. Reportedly, during the announcement of the impeachment enquiry Mr McCarthy also referenced alleged communications between Joe Biden’s staff and Hunter Biden’s team, and colluded to coordinate responses to media questions regarding corruption at Burisma.
