According to a report, ecowas say they are imposing fresh sanctions on Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. Reportedly, Niger’s coup leaders have told ecowas that they cannot receive a proposed mission to Niamey for security reasons. According to the report, ecowas leaders are to meet Thursday following Niger’s refusal to grant an audience to delegates from the u.n., u.s., ecowas and the african union.
Reportedly, the Niger foreign minister said in a letter to ecowas, “The current context of public anger and revolt following sanctions imposed by ecowas does not permit the welcoming of the delegation in the required conditions of serenity and security.”
