€6.5 billion frozen

According to a report, the eu commission recommended that €6.5 billion in eu funds be withdrawn provisionally, and ministers of the european parliament voted to freeze what amounts to around 65% of eu cohesion programmes. Reportedly, the money will be refunded if the Hungarian prime minister takes 17 remedial measures aimed to address systematic irregularities in the public procurement process, a conflict of interest from government officials and weaknesses in the investigation and prosecution of cases regarding eu funds.
