Bosnia, Herzevgovina and the republic of Srpska

According to a report, Bosnians in Bosnia and Herzegovina are protesting about constitutional changes that they say are discriminatory. Reportedly, Bosnia is the only country in europe to have an international peace envoy. The 3 1/2 year long Bosnian war, part of the much larger Yugoslav wars ended with the dayton agreement, strook at Wright-Patterson airforce base near Dayton, Ohio. The agreement divided the people, Serbs to the republic of Srpska, Bosnians and Croats to Bosnia and Herzevgovina. Little is known about the serbs in the republic of Srpska. Reportedly, since the war ended in 1995 the countries development has been monitored by an office of the u.n. According to the report, the office has the power to remove politicians and circumvent national institutions. Reportedly, each cultural group is represented by a tripartite presidency and has its own parliament but is overseen.

According to the report, the changes put through on Thursday include the prime minister being approved by two houses of parliament and the possibility of a snap election in the event of a prolonged blocking of the process. Reportedly, a ruling coalition composed of Bosniak and Croat parties couldn’t appoint a prime minister before an April 6 deadline, the coalition broke up after the deadline. According to the report, the Bosnian vice president and member of the largest political party in Bosnia, sda refused to approve the new government which lacks any sda members.
