Brexit talks

According to a report Germany has seemingly vetoed plans to discuss Brexit at a thought to be high level meeting, thought to be next Wednesday. According to the report, seemingly tariff free access to the single market is an area of disagreement. Lack of adherence to acceptable standards on the environment, state aid and worker and consumer protection are thought to be the reasons why.

New rules?

Media coverage has misrepresented public attitudes to a dinner on 19th of this month, attended by many government ministers as fury. According to reports, the call for the resignation of the eu commisioner by eurosceptics was followed by various resignations and threats to resign. Not validated as yet. An analyser yesterday reported that the new government alliance, described as a practical Republican government by party leader, has relayed to the european commission president that Hogan should go.

A border, fundamental to Ireland in Europe

Europe is misrepresenting the peace process according to a recent independent analysis. According to the report, Brexit negotiations were believed to have been delayed by criteria concerning a proposed border, British definition, backstop. The reportedly until recently eu commisioner Phil Hogan advocated a new, all Ireland governing body. The report related that dup demands for a Stormont oversight, presumably of a proposed border between northern Ireland and the u.k., to be arranged as a unionist veto. A u.k. directive. With regard to other borders it was noted by unionists that a north/south border would not be sufficient, presumably when Dublin port remains open to freight. Phil Hogan reportedly interceded that the south can help; perhaps with new legislation.

According to the analysis report, Stormont has been threatened with closure if the border goes ahead. Earlier Boris Johnson and the then taoiseach Leo Varadker are said to have failed to agree to this fundamental Brexit measure.

Water

Targeting water as a strategy has been reported in various countries, even Africa. Results are famine, pestilence and disease. Has occurred in countries in conflict with the u.n. according to various reports. Not specified by what means. Results can be migration on a large scale as in Syria, and famine and disease as in Africa. Ebola may have originated in the Ebola River. Said to have originated nearby. Not known whether the water has been checked.

In this age of viruses, wells are thought to be the way forward and to help people find resistance to disease. Clean water is needed for food crops and for washing. Washing with contaminated water will attract viruses such as corona virus and other germs and flies etc.

Fianna fáil dinner poses question, who’s in charge?

People may find the coverage and criteria of the golf club dinner and consequences hard to understand. The Fianna fáil dinner is believed to have resulted in a gathering of eighty people, twenty more than current covid restrictions. The result was reportedly a visit from the gardai, and this being the government: Even harder to understand was the spate of resignations, condemnations and calls for resignations that followed. Perhaps due to a falling out, but doesn’t explain everything.

Supposedly individuals attended in good faith, perhaps not being aware of the numbers. One attendee, the relatively new eu commisioner was grilled and specifically accused of breaking covid restrictions. He had reportedly arrived in Ireland from Brussels prior to the gathering. He is said to have attended only after his screening for covid proved negative. Latest news reported is that Sinn féin have called for him to be replaced in Europe.

Homeless crisis

With a view to the housing problem, a new local initiative reportedly is to paint empty houses, so cleaning up derelict areas. Results good, but hopefully renovating the interiors will follow shortly, alleviating the housing crisis.

With reference to the homeless situation in Ireland. Figures show over 10,000 people are in emergency accommodation, a steady stream of migration and an unknown number sleeping rough or in hostels of unknown standards, criticised in the past. As called tent villages of homeless people were reportedly cleared by order of the homeless executive. This carried out by the council using mechanical means resulted in life changing injuries for a homeless man due to council workers failing to check that the tent was empty. Unknown whether the injured party as received compensation yet.

Steep incline in covid deaths as percentage

According to current figures published corona virus statistics display that out of approximately 28,000 + cases there have been 1,770 deaths, a steep incline. Are covid restrictions the answer?
Figures show a tremendous 13,057 cases have occured in County Dublin. This compared to the apparently second worst affected county, County Kildare, currently at 2,174 known cases.

A new era?

According to a newspaper report in the wake of the inaurguration of Donald Trump, he was once a speech writer for Barak Obama. A seeming little known fact. Obama’s speeches, particularly in the beginning were very well received in Europe and elsewhere but unfortunately his term didn’t bring big changes. Colonial influences may have held him back. Can the two American parties now begin to work together for the good of America and the world?

Before his inauguration, Donald Trump who once said he would like to stop American carnage was said to have explored possibilities to be independent.

Where are the Gaels?

How many of Irish descent still living in northern Ireland? Possibly not many. It’s also getting more difficult for Gaels to live in the south. Problems are poor or lack of services. Similar reports abroad. Hospitals are an area of concern, no care taken. Can be abusive.

During the last decades Republicans and former republicans are thought to have travelled south with a hope to move, the system seemingly reluctant to help. With regard to recent discussions regarding a united Ireland, many northerners appear to be moving south but may not be republicans or Gaels. The seeming royalists who have moved south of the border, predominate on tv, have jobs in administration and are thinking about the possibility of staying.
