Mr Biden is believed to have connections to loyalist Ireland. America appears to be backing the u.k. with a u.s./u.k. trade deal which reportedly will not go ahead unless Britain follows the above protocol, their own. The u.k. are also objecting to a border between northern Ireland and Britain. A thought to be idea to include northern Ireland in the single market by waiving tariffs. Not expected to be doable. According to a previous report, northern Ireland have a mandate to veto any border officialdom at ports between northern Ireland and Britain.

The new seemingly coalition government according to media detail consists mainly of Fine gael candidates reiterating non national views. The minister for foreign affairs is reportedly insisting on so called northern Ireland protocol, that is no border, which opposes eu protocol.
