Hiv drugs such as lopinavir-ritonavir are reportedly being recommended by many countries in order to fight covid but experts from Oxford university disagree, saying these countries guidelines should be revised. They cite their as called randomised clinical trial of covid treatments (RCT) claiming it to be the largest in the world. A conclusion of the trial was seemingly that the anti viral drug normally used in cases of hiv showed no beneficial effect on hospitalised patients who were not on ventilators. Does that mean it might be effective in non-ventilator patients?
