Reportedly the secretary general of the u.n. said money is needed for critical food amid dwindling supplies in Afghanistan. According to the report donors have pledged more than €1 billion. Speaking after the Geneva ministerial conference on Afghanistan, the u.n. secretary general said he could not determine how much money had been pledged in response to its direct appeal for €606 million, and how much to support other efforts or neighbouring countries.
