Operation Okra is a supposed u.n. deployment of Australian land and sea forces as a part of joint task force 633 which began in 2003 and is still ongoing. The deployment is said to operate in the Persian Gulf and Iraq and believed to be unpopular with Iraqis, many of whom have been murdered, according to reports, supposedly while protesting.
The Iraqi prime minister, who previously asked for a three day mourning period following deadly protests, reportedly in October, is yet to comment. There is news of an internet shutdown.
