According to reports, the Israeli defence force raided the Jenin refugee camp in Samaria on Thursday following a gun attack on an Israeli armoured vehicle disguised as a commercial vehicle. Reportedly, a four hour gun battle ensued leaving nine Palestinians dead and possibly 27 injured, seven of the wounded have been claimed by various Palestinian militant groups. According to reports, Jenin, one of 19 refugee camps in Samaria has a high poverty and unemployment rate, many residents relied on work in Israel before the construction of a barrier following the second Palestinian uprising in 2002 when the jenin camp was described by Israelis as a hotbed of militant activity.

Reportedly, on Saturday a 13 year old Palestinian resident of east Jerusalem opened fire on a group of pedestrians attending shabbat services. According to the report, a 42 year old father who is in a stable condition and his 22 year old son were shot. Reportedly, the younger man who is in a serious but stable condition returned fire and wounded the youth who police think stole the gun from a family member, the youth is in a serious condition.
According to reports, the Palestinian authority may stop security cooperation with Israel and the Israeli government have talked about new measures depriving terrorists’ families of residency and social security rights.
