According to the media, Fianna fáil were warned in 2017 regarding their pro-life stance, being the only party at the time who were against new abortion legislation. The warning was reported to have been given by a professor of politics at the Queen Mary university, London.
The professor returned in 2018, according to the same report, to address the party on all matters to do with Brexit. Why was a professor of politics from the Queen Mary university of London orientating fianna fáil candidates to new legislation? Since then, fianna fáil, who were known as the Republican Party, may have succumbed to pressure.
The only Irish party known to be pro-life is Aontú. According to reports Aontú regard the family as having an important role in society and aim to promote family life, socially and economically. Aontú are reported to be for freedom of speech and religious diversity, and have been described as the fastest growing party.
