Five eyes surveillance system

Now said to monitor billions of communications worldwide, five eyes is believed to have been developed from a said to be, cold war intelligence system; may have been named Echalon and has links to r.a.f. Menwith Hill, North Yorkshire. It is believed to have been formed as part of a uk/usa agreement for the purpose of shared intelligence. Other signitaries are Australia, New Zealand and Canada, although the level of so called cooperation between the u.k. and the u.s.a. is described as unparalleled. Thought to have developed during the Margaret Thatcher years, the consequences of overt republicanism may have been a movement towards compliance.
Since 2001, FVEY has expanded, and much emphasis is now said to be on the surveillance of private internet communications. There has been complaints of breaches of national security and the passing on of wrong information.
